Onesy-Twosy Analog Lines (Backup and Emergency)

Submitted by jay on Tue, 2008-11-18 08:49.

We frequently include analog lines with our proposals for VOIP PBX. Especially if there are more than a few people in an office, the analog line becomes an emergency backup. When the power is out for an extended period, your having a bad day with your network connection, or your just doing some construction (and unplugging almost everything), you may need a backup. Also, for multilocation, campus situations, you may find it practical to put analog lines in for routing 911 calls.

F2 is excited to announce our support for the new, do it yourself (DIY) phone system from Digium. Its called AsteriskNOW, because its so easy to install and configure all the software you need, with no licensing costs. None! You will need a relatively modern PC computer, and a broadband Internet connection. Simply download the ISO image and burn it to a CDROM. Boot the new phone system PC from the CDROM, then follow the instructions. In no time, you will have converted a PC into a feature rich, business phone system.

Comcast Caps Internet

Submitted by jay on Mon, 2008-09-01 10:19.

While we have had numerous reports of problems with Comcast Internet customers, the recently announced 250GB/Month Cap on downloads surprised us too. Here are the details from Comcast directly; http://www.comcast.net/terms/network/amendment/. As a consumer, it seems like kind of a rip-off. I paid for an un-metered service, but now they are adding metering. As a VOIP operator, I'm hoping this measure will improve the quality of bandwidth in some neighborhoods.
